Cadence Curation: When Discord Quietly Resolves
Share
Cadence was not designed as a color story. It emerged from a piece that refused to be simplified.
This armoire was created without a fixed palette, without an intended theme, and without concern for whether the colors would traditionally “work.” Each hue was introduced in response to the one before it — sometimes in harmony, sometimes in resistance. What could have become chaos instead found rhythm.
That moment — when contrast stopped clashing and began to settle — became the foundation of Cadence Curation.
The Founding Piece

This armoire was the first time I realized I could intentionally trust color relationships over color rules.
There was no prescribed palette guiding the process and no expectation that the hues needed to agree in a traditional sense. Each color entered the surface in response to the one before it — sometimes in harmony, sometimes in tension. Instead of correcting contrast, I followed it. Instead of neutralizing discord, I let it speak.
Nothing here is accidental, but nothing is forced.
What emerged was not chaos, but cadence.
Warmth presses against depth. Saturation softens into restraint. Bold passages coexist with quieter ones in tandem, without forced balance. The figure at the center anchors the movement, but never dominates it, allowing the surrounding color field to resolve on its own terms.
Cadence lives in this in-between space — after tension, before neutrality. It is the relief that comes when contrast is allowed to finish its conversation rather than be edited into agreement.
This piece marked a shift in how I work with color.
This piece did not inspire a palette — it revealed a way of curating color.
And that way became Cadence Curation.
From Philosophy to Cadence Curation
Cadence Curation does not attempt to recreate this piece. It carries forward the way of seeing that emerged from it.
Cadence Curation is an intentional paint bundle offering built around color relationships rather than color rules. The hues are selected to hold tension and balance simultaneously — bold on their own, cohesive together — allowing contrast to resolve through use, layering, and response rather than correction.
This is not a step-by-step formula or a fixed outcome. Cadence Curation exists for artists and makers who trust process, who work intuitively, and who understand that cohesion often arrives after exploration, not before it.
The Cadence Curation paint bundle is an extension of the same in-between space revealed by the founding piece — where contrast is allowed to speak, shift, and settle into rhythm.
